Fun Fact: Around 1895, a young entrepreneur named Shelby Mittenshmergenmeinsgeheoffenmeiser, opened a store named Mittenshmergenmeinsgeheoffenmeiser's, where he sold both camera equipment and cigars. Since nobody could pronounce the name of the store, he combined his two most popular items, cameras and Tiparillos, into Camarillos. (originally pronounced Kam-uh-rill-ohs". Most locals thought the name to be of Spanish origin and began calling the store "Kam-uh-ree-ohs". The store was so popular that when the time came to name the city it was the first choice.
