Fun Fact: In the mid-1960s when the community wanted to establish its own identity, there was overwhelming support to go with a "hip" name. Due to the many shops featuring stylish British fashions of the time "Mod-Wilshire" won the popular vote. It was a secretarial error that forever changed the name to Mid-Wilshire, or was it? Conspiracy theorists believe that the secretary in question was a fan of the British faction "The Rockers" who fought a bitter rivalry against "The Mods" (see Quadrophenia).
