Valencia CA is a community within the City of Santa Clarita in the County of Los Angeles. Bordered on the north by the San Gabriel Mountains, on the east by Ranch Santa Clarita, on the south by the Santa Clara River, and to the west by the 5 freeway.
Fun Fact: In 1832, the area was comprised of vast orange orchards, primarily of the Navel variety. When the landowners formed a small town to support the outlying community, everyone wanted the town named after themselves, so it was proposed to name the village after the fruit they grew, and signs were posted on the edges of town saying: Welcome to Navel". But after cowboys and assorted uncouth travelers took to laughing and exposing their belly buttons the vote was to change the name to Valencia citing that "nobody knows the difference anyway."
