January 2, 2019: The highly regarded Valley Lawyer magazine, published by the prestigious San Fernando Valley Bar Association recently published an in-depth article on Cyber Security and the ramifications of data breaches on law practices. As non-attorney members of the SFVBA, we are proud that this article was written by our own Business Development Director, David Mercy.
In the article ‘Avoiding a Hack Attack’ topics ranging from the issues that small to mid-size law firms face, to the legal and social consequences attorneys can face when a data breach is revealed. For the average business, a breach or Ransomware attack can be catastrophic, causing over 50% of the victim’s businesses to close within the year. For lawyers, with the confidential nature of their client data, the dangers are even worse
